There are very good reasons why the murder of a police officer is treated as worse by the authorities than a 'civilian' murder. It doesn't make either life more worthy or not, it is about maintaining law and order.

I bet they've left it until he is in a state of physical and/or mental decline which means he'd be better off inside, then turfed him out.
I was wrong that he'd been released before but recalled, he'd been on day release but was put back into a closed prison.

You can't have a justice system based upon rehabilitation and then just decide you're not going to release someone for a crime 45 years ago.
He's 78, an old man now - hardly a threat to society is he?
Release the old cunt and free up the space.

I think all people like this need locking up and the keys thrown away but I am not sure why killing a policeman is any worse than killing a member of the public. Surely one life is worth the same as the next life?
